Giving Back to the Community

Giving Back to the Community

As long-time members of the Manassas and Manassas Park communities, we at Yappie Cuttery and Blooms Crossing Animal Hospital whole-heartedly strive to give back to our fellow community members, both human and animal. We have been blessed with endless support and enthusiasm from the local community for the past 30 years, and we seek to share the same support and enthusiasm with others.

High School Vo-Tech Programs

For the past 25 years, we have been in collaboration with Osbourn High School, Osbourn Park High School, and Manassas Park High School as part of their outreach Vo-Tech programs. High school students, some with mild disabilities, who want to go to trade school or get involved in a specific industry immediately after high school use the Vo-Tech programs to gain exposure to their desired career fields. At Yappie Cuttery and Blooms Crossing Animal Hospital, interested students come in for a few days a week to work as volunteers. They come for about ten weeks and, after volunteering, they can choose to stay in the pet industry or move on to explore other industries. Some students who chose to stay in the pet industry have been hired at Yappie Cuttery and Blooms Crossing Animal Hospital or have become grooming students at the Virginia School of Pet Grooming.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Program

The WIOA Program aids dislocated workers, individuals with disabilities, and other job seekers in their search for jobs that suit their interests and abilities. Yappie Cuttery and Blooms Crossing Animal Hospital have been certified to participate in the program for the past 15 years. At our facility, job seekers spend a few days volunteering in each of our departments; they then decide if they would like a job with us and, if so, they get trained and hired.

Rescue Leagues

Yappie Cuttery and Blooms Crossing Animal Hospital have taken pride in providing quality care and service to you and your pets for the past 30 years. We also extend our care to those animals in the community that are not yet situated in loving families.

In order to support rescue leagues in their efforts to help stray or abandoned animals, we:

  • offer our boarding kennels for the leagues’ use in the case of overflow foster animals
  • promote and advertise adoptions in our front lobby
  • provide discounted spay and neuter programs
  • groom the rescued animals for free
  • give a free veterinarian exam and a free grooming to clients who have just adopted from any of the rescue leagues listed below

Rescue leagues with which we currently collaborate are the ASPCA, the Humane Society, Healing Hearts, Spay Inc., the Prince William County Animal Shelter, the Manassas City Animal Adoption Center, and the City of Manassas Park’s animal shelter.

If you are a representative from a rescue league and would like to partner with Yappie Cuttery and Blooms Crossing Animal Hospital, please contact us at 703-361-1363.
